Rachel Hausmann

GIS Scientist

From Earth’s oceans to the surface of Mars, she has mapped it. Rachel started her research career studying earthquake recurrence intervals and associated hazards of the Cascadia Subduction Zone and the San Andreas Fault system. From there she worked on the InSight Mars Mission at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory where she was a part of the team building maps and analyzing hazards of the landing site location and, when InSight successfully landed, the placement of the seismometer to study Mars quakes. Rachel is passionate about leveraging geospatial data and machine learning techniques to help keep people and assets safe.
